London Shopping

Some of the most famous shopping districts in the world are located in London, pride of the United Kingdom. Many well-known international shopping centers are centered in the city, such as the world renowned Harrods Department Store. Harrods sells absolutely anything that has ever been sold but is well known for its jewelry. A similar example would be Hamley's. This industry giant is one of the largest toy stores in the world.

Thousands more shopping centers are exclusive to London, such as Oxford Street. Oxford Street is in the center of the city's busiest shopping district. Oxford Street is named after the Earl of Oxford, who purchased the infamous land (infamous in that it was once used to execute condemned death-row inmates) for the purposes of development. The development continued through the early twentieth century until it became the bustling shopping center of today. Other exclusive districts include Chinatown and Commercial Street. Chinatown is a ghetto that is world famous for it's sale of quality Chinese products and Commercial Street, which forms a part of London's famed inner ring road, is popular for it's historic food and antiquities markets.

All kinds of people of every culture and class travel from every corner of the globe to sample London's famed shopping districts. However, if you are planning on a shopping spree in the city, there are certain things you should be aware of and prepare for. The glamorous markets and shops of London are specifically meant to make you want to spend your money. Impulse buyers will easily empty their wallets in a timely manner and careful shoppers are facing temptation on all sides. Bring lots of money or leave the credit cards at home. Do not be discouraged, though. London is full of thousands of shops and markets that sell high quality products, making every penny spent completely worth the price.
